The European Gravitational Observatory (EGO) is a consortium, under Italian law, founded by INFN and CNRS. EGO accounts for about 50 employees, mainly scientists and engineers. With an annual budget of about 10M€, it ensures the operation and maintenance of the Advanced Virgo research infrastructure, the unique advanced gravitational wave detector in Europe. EGO ensures the Virgo exploitation, its future upgrades and promotes and supports open co-operation on experimental and theoretical GW research through the coordination of European Projects. EGO has the responsibility of the implementation and management of the computing infrastructure serving the Virgo interferometer, from the data acquisition to the data transfer to remote repositories and distribution toward final users.
